Moving Planet was a worldwide day to move beyond fossil fuels, with over 2000 events in more than 175 countries!

In New Zealand there were over 35 events, including large gatherings in the main centres.

A special thank you to the hundreds of volunteers who put time and energy into these amazing events throughout New Zealand.

"I know how hard you’ve worked these last weeks: I know you’ve been emailing and phoning, putting up posters and tracking down journalists, meeting with political leaders and even fixing flat bike tires.

A quick glance at the slideshow on the front page of Moving-Planet.org shows just how much all the volunteer energy and time that went into these events paid off.

The day was an enormous success, far more than we could have imagined. Countless new people were brought into this movement, we broke through in media all over the world, and we are stronger than we’ve ever been before. You all were the reason, and for that, we’re extremely grateful." Bill McKibben

So THANK YOU! This doesn’t really capture exactly how thankful we are. There are times when we all think the world will never change -- but then there are weekends like this one, when we realize that because of people like you it really will!

Also a special thanks to some of our supporters:

Soar Print - for the great print resources that they printed for this entire campaign - a business leading the way in green printing!

Signbiz - for the great big signs about 350 we were able to get around the country, and will continue to use now and into infinity...

Wellington City Council - for funding for the Wellington event, including supporting checkpoints on the renewable race to help make biking safer in Wellington - teaching people about ways to live more sustainably for a Green Wellington.

Phantom - for the generous discount on phantom posters we were able to get around the main centres.

Logan Brown restaurant - for the great support over the years, including support for the sustainable wine tastings, and generous donation to 350.
