Check out the inspiration from Wanaka!
Wanaka wanted to hold a 350 action that involved one of the things we love the most down here, snow! Sophie from Sustainable Wanaka started the discussion with Treble Cone about assembling a group of people into a giant 350 somewhere on the hill. Ivy from Wanaka Wastebusters stepped into help turn these discussions into the action.
Spraying the outline of the 350 on the snow under the main basin chairlift created a real talking point during the week. We supplied as much information as we could from the ground to the people travelling above our heads and Ivy filled in the blanks at the bottom of the chair lift.
When it came to assembling everyone I was amazed at how many people turned up. It really felt like a minutes silence at Treble Cone. For around half an hour, everybody was either at the 350 site or on their way to it. It was truly awesome how much everyone got behind this action and the campaign."
We got some really great shots...check out 350 on the mountain!

We also got good coverage in the Otago Daily Times and the Southland Times.
Next up for us is to start planning for October 23 and 24 actions - we are running with a tree planting then in conjunction with the local high school.
We are also hosting a speaker night on 20th October with a presentation from a local organic farmer, David Musgrave, who was selected from more than 2000 Australasian applicants to be trained by former US Vice President Al Gore and a panel of international experts at The Climate Project - Australia Asia Pacific Summit in Melbourne in July.
Keep rockin', Wanaka!
